Bellingen Riverwatch is a renowned citizen science project that sees local volunteers test the rivers at 29 sites each month. The program supports the recovery of the Critically Endangered Bellinger River Snapping Turtle, of which there are less than 200 left in the wild. “It’s a great opportunity to get outdoors, meet new people, contribute to important and meaningful science and research”, says Project Coordinator, Amy Denshire. “We test on the second Tuesday or Wednesday of the month, so if you are available on those days, have access to a car, and an interest in science, we’d love to see you there.” The training days will be held on Wednesday 2nd September and Wednesday 23rd September and it is recommended to attend both training sessions if you can. These events are proudly supported by the Foundation for Regional Renewal and ANZ. For more details, please email Amy on firstname.lastname@example.org.
